Hey everyone! In an effort to post more often I'm starting a segment I like to call Tid Bits. Each week (or multiple times a week) I'm going to review a new food product be it at a local restaurant, from a Foodzie tasting box or your normal fare you could find at the local grocery store. Life is all about discovering new foods and I am here to act as your guide :D
A few days ago I got a free Foodzie tasting box in the mail, which was awesome. For those of you who haven't heard of Foodzie, it's an awesome website that sells unique food products ranging from gluten free cookies to to horseradish mustard. They have tasting boxes which are delivered once a month and contain 5-6 samples of products they sell. Usually these boxes are more than I can afford, but I think I can handle free. And who knows I might have to splurge every once and a while...
This tasting box came with several unique products including SeaSnax Classic Seaweed Snack. The package promised they were strangely addictive, but I wasn't too sure. My friends from college used to eat seaweed and needless to say I was not a fan at all. Don't get me wrong, I love sushi and I definitely frequent Dancing Wasabi (their vegetable roll is so good!) but straight up eating seaweed has never been on my list of favorites.
That is until now. The package was totally right! These are strangely addictive. The first few bites my face was scrunched in thought. Did I like this or not? Seaweed to me inherently tastes like fish and salt water which aren't my favorite flavors. Plus, roasted seaweed has a very strange texture, like you're eating plastic wrap that dissenigrates in your mouth.
Okay, I'm not doing such a great job selling these, but bear with me! After the first few pieces I couldn't stop eating the stuff and when it was all gone I was a little sad. These are the perfect substitute for potato chips and the whole package only has 16 calories! You get the same salty crunch, albeit with a totally different mouth feel. Plus they're so much prettier than potato chips. They look like a stained glass window!
In additional to their classic flavor, SeaSnax offers onion and Spicy Chipotle. Hmmmm I sense a seaweed purchase in the near future.
What I'm Listening to Today

You need to find kale chips to review!
